The Domino Effect

Everybody pretty much knows what the “domino effect” relates to. You have a bunch of dominos one next to the other and when you knock down the first one, it creates a chain reaction to the last one, knocking them all over. Domino Day (yes, it truly exists) is November 13th and in the Netherlands in 2009, a company called Weijers Domino Productions coordinated the world record domino fall by lining up more than 4,490,000 dominoes. I could only imagine who had to set these up!

This domino fall unleashed more than 94,000 joules of energy – about the equivalent of doing 545 pushups. (believe me, I know how many that can be!).

But did you know that in as much as one domino will topple over the one next to it, it will also topple over the next one even if it’s 50% bigger than the previous one? An American physicist named Lorne Whitehead put this experiment to the test.

If you started off with a regular sized domino, by the 10th, you’d have a domino my size (6 foot) and by the 18th, the domino would be the size of the Leaning Tower of Pisa. the 31st would loom over Mount Everest by 3,000 feet.

Why am I telling you this? The toppling of dominoes (life’s challenges) means that you should line up your priorities and whack at it until they topple over. Success is built over time and is sequential. One thing at a time.

I just finished Module 3 of the Beginners Advantage course and like Dean mentions, if you focus on what your ideal life looks like, there’s nothing that will stop you; even a big domino.

In reviewing and going through the module content, it truly dawned on me on how many complications I consistently created around me. It was easy for me to see now that many of my actions which I thought were important, weren’t. He calls this “the busy fool”. I sure was busy… (and definitely a fool).

The other great aspect of revisiting the module contents was being able to sit down with my wife and finally have her question and understand why I was going through this training and what I anticipated it provide us in the long run: our ideal life. The funny part about that though is that she anticipates being told WHY I didn’t do or finish the weekly tasks I had set out for myself (talk about having another boss to answer to!)

All kidding aside, the great aspect of it all is that I now have my life partner who understands what all of this is all about AND is now providing the support I definitely love having.

I’d also made the comments within the Community of Affiliate System which basically confirmed that contrary to my work environment, where I was an over-achiever and regularly attained my goals and objectives, I wasn’t consequential and I’d usually coast and not mind if I didn’t achieve any success within my business – which, to be honest, was truly me showing a lack of priorities.

It’s funny how sometimes being at the right place, at the right time, can make you review and rethink what you’re doing.

So now, what’s the plan? Well, to be honest, I had started my Tik Tok videos which I didn’t continue because of a bad week. Then again, that bad week got me to rethink where I stood and what I was doing.

That being said, back to the Tik Tok videos and making sure that the traffic part of the 4 core areas Dean teaches us – and writes in his book – goes forward.

Another thing that I need to be honest with both myself and you as a reader; I’m also part of Deans Accelerator Program. That basically means that whatever traffic I send to purchase his book via this link, is followed up by Dean and his team. So it really boils down to this: traffic traffic traffic.

If you’re new to my blog and haven’t purchased his book, please use this link and only pay for the shipping & handling of it. That call to action will not only open a new world for you but also bring you the much wanted support you need and want to create the life you definitely want to have.

So this weeks blog was about commitment and action. Something we should all strive to do – to get to where we want to be.

I knew about a small domino being able to knock over a larger one etc. But didn’t ever think about the exponential force that could produce. That is fascinating. It’s a great analogy for our own efforts to get things done. It’s ok to start small, if we are consistent, it will build.

Hey Marc, great post this week! I, too, have had a few bad weeks and a questionable mindset. But I’m back and have re-defined my position within this whole purpose of why I am doing this in the first place.

I think Dean has provided such a great program and system. But honestly, it doesn’t matter what you do; if you don’t go through the process that is put in front of you, then you’re just spinning your wheels and staying in place. That’s where I’m at. I have faith in this man and his system and need a knock on the head now and then to “gently” remind me that this is where I am and need to be to become successful in affiliate marketing.

Thank you for the reminder, as well.

Marc,
I am currently on Module 3 myself and I can relate to being a “busy fool”. Get back to posting on TikTok. I promise the more videos you make the easier it gets. The more you post the more traffic you can generate. Here’s to your success.

Hi Marc! I recently read that if you do the hardest part of your day first and work backward to the easiest task, you build momentum. And, you know what? It’s true! It totally surprised me when I put the idea into practice! It’s very much like the domino effect you describe. Yet, doing the hardest thing first is hard. I’m going to use the domino looming over Mt. Everest as an image to keep me going. Scientists! Where do they come up with these ideas? Sometimes, I think they are just big kids! Thanks for the metaphor!

What a great analogy involving the dominos. It is amazing the power involved. It’s great to have your wife on your side giving you support in what you are doing to improve your life. Mine is still at the sceptical stage, unfortunately. I am looking to include something in my website to promote TIE and you have given me much food for thought. Thank you.

Hi Marc,

I love the analogy with the domino effect and how it perfectly illustrates the power of sequential actions in achieving success. It’s inspiring to see how you’re applying this concept to your own journey with the Beginners Advantage course and TikTok videos.

It’s also great to hear that you’ve got your life partner’s support and that you’re reevaluating your priorities. The shift from being a “busy fool” to focusing on what truly matters is a crucial step in any growth journey.

Keep up the great work, and I’m excited to see how your TikTok efforts and traffic strategies unfold.

Looking forward to your next update!

Marc after many years of playing with dominos as a kid and playing dominos when I got older I never gave the thought of how force was displayed in such a simple little item. I also liked what Nathan said about it being ok to be small when starting, but if we are consistent the force that is being created will allow us to grow larger.

What an inspiring read! The way you’ve connected the concept of the domino effect to life’s challenges and achievements is brilliant. It’s a powerful reminder that success is built one step at a time.

I’m particularly moved by your honesty and the support you’ve found in your wife. It’s incredible to see how open communication and shared goals can strengthen your bond and drive you forward.
Your transparency about the ups and downs adds a genuine touch that many can relate to. Keep pushing forward. I’m excited to see the amazing things you’ll achieve next!

To your continued success! 🚀

I loved your post about the domino effect—it’s such a cool analogy for tackling life’s challenges one step at a time. Your story about the dominoes really illustrates how small actions can lead to big results.
It’s awesome that you’re sharing this journey with your wife and getting her support. Having someone to keep you accountable (in a fun way) makes a huge difference!
Glad to hear you’re getting back into TikTok and focusing on that traffic. Keep going, and remember each little step counts. You’ve got this!

Hi Marc,
Great post! I love how you’ve used the analogy of the domino effect, and the impact as you mentioned, when a domino can knock down another 50% bigger and the continued impact. So important to have the right dominoes in place and create that same impact, bigger and bigger goals, tasks actions. It’s also awesome that your wife in on board with your vision and your WHY! Makes a huge difference 🙂

Marc, It is encouraging to hear that your wife is now providng the support you love having for achieving your ideal life.

At this point I really haven’t had “the talk” with friends or family and they have as much understanding of what I am doing online now as they did when I was a reporting specialist using Crystal Reports in the corporate oil and gas business (not much at all).

Speaking of tranparency, I had never thought of telling my readers that if they purchase a book from me, then Dean and his team would be following up with them via email as well as me. It’s a big benefit that I have missed out on writing about.

Marc, The domino effect is a powerful metaphor for achieving success. Just like how one domino can topple another even if it’s 50% bigger, our small actions can lead to significant results over time. Dean’s course has helped me realise how important it is to focus on priorities and avoid being a “busy fool.” By setting clear goals and taking consistent steps, we can achieve our ideal life. Let’s keep pushing forward, one domino at a time. Thanks, Atif

Good piece on the domino effect to attract our attention. We must all have a reason to move forward after a while we can all experience momentum just like the Dominos.
