So how important is winning? For hockey fans, you could ask that question to the Edmonton Oilers. After losing their first 3 games and coming back strong and winning the next 3 games, they unfortunately couldn’t win the Stanley Cup in the 7th and final game.
Everybody could talk about how they worked hard, had the resilience of bouncing back from being on the brink of losing it all, became stronger but then unfortunately lost that ultimate last game. All those things to bring them there won’t matter; in the end they lost the crowning achievement.
it’s a bit of a different story for us here as Affiliate Marketers and working with Dean, Glenn, Sophie and the staff at Internet Profits.
We all started the same way, we first bought Dean’s book: The Iceberg Effect after either having seen a video of Dean talking about it or even an email we received after having gone to his website. From there, our paths are pretty much the same: we are all looking to work towards mastering of the 4 core areas Dean talks about in his book and talks about any time he has the chance: Traffic – Capture – Follow-Up – Offer.
Sounds simple right?
Also, I don’t know about you, but if there’s one thing that I’ve learnt about Affiliate Marketing, it’s that it’s a pretty solitary road – that is, until you find a community and decide otherwise.
Asking For Help
Truth be told and although Dean, Glenn, Sophie and the IP Team are teaching us all of their wisdom and helping us avoid the pitfalls, there’s no way we’ll really make it alone. Oh, we can make it all right; it will just take that much more time to get there and there will be pitfalls along the way… many pitfalls.
There’s also one other reality and that, we work pretty much alone. We decide on our path, on what marketing strategy we’ll use and at one point or another, we’ll be stumped for answers for that great question of: “how do I do this?” I’ll be the first to acknowledge it: I usually will not ask for help. I’m getting better at this though – I figure that by the time I’m 90, I should have cracked it!
Kidding aside, I know that Dean always starts the weekly Affiliate System Beginners Advantage weekly coaching by always letting us know that we can always ask for help.
He’ll always mention that, apart from Atif, (who it seems is always asking the right kind of questions, you know, the ones that make you think: “that’s a darn good question, why didn’t I ask or think about that?”) nobody seems to be asking for help.
Making A Difference
We all know that this venture, this road to our financial security is a work in progress. It’s not an overnight “shinny object” success thing. It won’t be easy and, let’s face it, will probably be very lonely at times.
That’s where all others like you reading or hearing me today come into play. I can recount the times I had started one of those “shinny objects” online courses and found myself totally alone. Yes, there was always the support side they offered but that was always for a time period and then, poof, it was either gone or there were so few people remaining, it really didn’t matter that you left.
It’s truly nothing close to what we now have with the Affiliate System Community that Dean has offered for us to join.
Thinking about why and when I started the Affiliate System back in December 2023 now seems to not only have been one of my best business decisions in a long while – considering that over 6 months later, Dean either won’t stop the weekly coaching or always has something else to bring to the table. (Or maybe he’d sadly miss Atif’s questions?).
This new Community is like a big “Wow” for me and it seems that saying “thank you” to Dean for the time and money he invested to bring this to us just doesn’t seem to do it justice or to be the right words.
Our Home
There is Facebook and our weekly blog-hopping but that’s “over there”; this new Community is a place where we can go and talk to each other. Help each other out. Talk about our wins and disappointments. It’s OUR new home. Thank you again for that Dean.
Right off the get-go, I’ve been able to go in and meet up with fellow members. Some of which, unfortunately, I had no clue were part of the AS Community.
It’s also given me the chance to reflect on what I’ve been doing right: continuing to blog weekly & do the blog-hopping to other members as well as what I’ve not been doing right: asking questions and continuing with what I had envisioned was bi-weekly Tik Tok videos.
The great part about all of this is that although we now find ourselves with half the year already gone, it’s never too late to change or redirect our paths. And come to think of it, I really like change. (Considering that as an Army brat & Army Officer I had moved 22 times by the time I was 44 years old I think I kind of opened that door to “change being a friend”).
So here we are, at another turning point. Time to get back to Tik Tok – Learn from others and our friend Atif (because he sure is doing something right), and look to ask questions about what my next steps should be and will be regarding my Affiliate Marketing journey.
The other change I want to do is to make sure that I go to the Community and take the time to read about and comment with my fellow Affiliate Marketers. I think that if I can do that, I’ll not only be in a better place in a not to distant future, but I’m sure I’ll also feel great helping others out; because, let’s face it, that’s also why we’re here, Right?
Time to make a change.

What a thoughtful and insightful post! It’s clear you’re drawing some powerful parallels between resilience in sports and our journey in affiliate marketing. The importance of community, support, and asking for help cannot be overstated, and I’m excited to see how starting to ask questions and get more involved in the community transforms your journey!
Dean’s consistent dedication to providing value and fostering a close-knit community is truly commendable, and it’s great to see how it positively impacts everyone involved. I’m excited to see how you implement these changes and wish you the best on your journey. Keep pushing forward —your progress is bound to inspire others as well!
Hi Alison, thank you for your comment and yes, even if there are a few bumps in the road, I feel that I’m going forward! (albeit with a few stops in the interim LOL).
Happy Canada Day Long Weekend, Marc! My mother jokes about the address book she has dedicated for my constant changes of addresses – but 22 moves up to the age of 44 for you – wow.
Your post does a good job of telling us that we can make the decision to engage in an affiliate community instead of taking the solitary road so many others go down.
Hi Robert,
The fun part now is that for the past 15 years – I’ve been living at the same place! Even my wife is saying “wow”! Thank you for your comment & wishing you all the best!
What a fantastic read! It’s so true that the road to success, especially in affiliate marketing, can feel pretty lonely sometimes. But having a supportive community makes all the difference! I’m totally with you on the importance of asking for help – it’s something I’m working on too. 😊
Your journey with Dean and the IP Team sounds inspiring. The resilience, the ups and downs, and the ongoing learning – it’s all part of the process. Thanks for sharing your experiences and reminding us all to lean on our community and keep pushing forward. Can’t wait to see how your TikTok comeback goes!
Here’s to many more wins and less loneliness in our affiliate marketing journeys. Cheers to our awesome community! 🎉
Hi Sarah, definitely agree, being in a community has its advantages and I really hope everyone will take advantage of it. Ah, the process of getting to “where we want to be” is a fun ride – with its ups and downs – here’s to wins for you as well, thank you!
One point from your blog that really resonated with me is the idea that “small actions can lead to significant changes.” This notion hits home for me, as it reminds me that even the tiniest effort can contribute to a larger, positive outcome. Your post has encouraged me to be more mindful of my daily actions and look for opportunities to make a difference, no matter how small they may seem. Thank you for this powerful reminder!
Hi Tony, I always try to make a small step forward every day. Some days are easier to do than others it seems but hopefully, we can get better at it with time! All the best!
Hi Marc,
Your blog post beautifully captures the importance of community and resilience in affiliate marketing. The analogy with the Edmonton Oilers adds a relatable touch, emphasizing that while winning matters, community support and engagement are crucial for success. Your commitment to supporting fellow marketers and engaging in the community is inspiring. Well done!
Meredith
Hi Meredith, looking forward to the support and supporting of others here in the community as best we can – we need to all get to the “promised land” LOL! Wishing you all the best!
Marc thanks for reminding me about the new community. Community can be a great thing especially in the affiliate marketing world. Although it seems exhausting change is a good thing!
Hi Ken,
I’m very well aware that change isn’t something everyone is comfortable with but as you mention, it’s a good thing! All the best!
