Even when you think you can’t get it done, you can do it. Why? Because you’re not alone!
Feeling supported, having a mentor and everything surrounding what I’ve talked about in previous blogs, well, that can be fine but having the confidence in yourself to just “do it” (like that sports company apply says) has no price.
Confidence
How such a word can sound so daunting when you say it and feel what it means is truly astonishing. They say confidence can move mountains and lack of it can stop greatness. But how do you get to be confident in yourself and in your ability to do a specific task?
My grandfather, ever the wise man, once told me, (when I was quite young and not truly listening to what he had to say), that even a king needs to kneel to receive his crown. That didn’t mean much at that age, probably not much either when I was first started being bullied in school – nerds like me were always at the mercy of those bullies.
But at one point in my life, I joined Cadets. Now for those unaware, Canada has a youth organization, supported by the Canadian Armed Forces, which is called the Cadets Canada. Being an Army brat, there was no way I wasn’t joining the Army Cadets (I think my father made that clear).
In any case, with Cadets came confidence. Confidence in myself and in the things I could do. Ironically, the bullying stopped at school when I confronted the bully because of that confidence.
Applying That Confidence
Now, having confidence is one thing; applying that confidence in everyday life is a whole other bowl of wax! When we start working as Affiliate Marketers, we don’t necessarily know what we’re getting into and the more we learn, the harder it can be to bring that confidence forward.
My mentor, Dean Holland, has stated it many times: “You don’t have to know everything but you do need to keep going forward in your learning process”. To me, that’s making sure that having confidence in yourself and your capabilities is always on your mind.
Like everything else we’ve learnt in our lives, some things will be easy and other will be harder. Let’s not kid ourselves, me learning how to write a blog and recording myself was the easy part – selling it to gain subscribers and – dare I say – followers – is where I needed to gain more confidence.
You Are Not Alone… Really!
The very last thing you need to be thinking about or going through when starting your Affiliate Marketing journey is to think you’re alone. With the internet came droves of ways to reach out to others who are going through the same thing you are. YouTube is so very popular because not only can you hear someone talk about their experiences but you can actually see them and the emotions that they convey in their videos.
Another avenue that is becoming quite popular with its short videos is Tik Tok. I truly believe that it has revolutionized videos and how we perceive usage of them.
You might say, well, easy for you Marc, you’ve got the experience in front of a microphone and you’re pretty good at conveying your emotions through that microphone but I don’t think I’ve got the chops to make a video.
One question comes to mind: What if I told you that there were 5,000 people just like you who thought that they couldn’t go in front of a camera to do videos? And more importantly, that you could become their mentor in their journey? Do you think that could help change your mind?
The great thing about blogs and contacts is that it opens your horizons to the different experiences everyone has. The greatest gift you could give yourself is the opportunity to become an Affiliate Marketer and have mentors like Dean Holland, his team and, why not, I’ll throw it in there: me!
Making It Look Easy – Even When It Isn’t
Like confidence, every journey will have it’s ups and downs. In my case, the last month of 2023 and the first couple of months of 2024 have both been disheartening and emotionally draining because of the loss of a very good friend and other family issues that sprang up.
What kept me going? Honestly, some days I don’t know but one thing did always creep back in the back of my head: the confidence that working my blog and working my Affiliate Marketing via Internet Profits with Dean was something that I knew could change my life for the better.
Even setting up my blog on the new platform Affiliate System (more on that on another blog), took me over a month because of technical hiccups I was having – the Holidays didn’t help in the delays too. But – I spent my down time after work, getting it to work and catching up on the course Dean is providing. As of this evening, I’m finishing up on my blog entry and am very proud to say that I’ll have caught up on the course curriculum by the end of the week-end.
All that because I knew, even with the heartaches and pains I was going through, that I had the confidence to take the time and go forward. Take a knee, (grandfathers know best, that’s for sure), and rise up to the occasion because I know that with this training and the knowledge I’m gaining, I can change my life for the better.
All of this does take dedication and time – for some, time is short but it can’t be used as an excuse; one of the Mentors at Internet Profit, Sophie, gets up at something like 4:30am in the morning just to make sure she gets in the time that is needed for her business.
Confidence In Yourself
Some may say that many of the things I’ve so far spoken about on my blog really have nothing to do with business. I don’t think so. I think it’s part of the base you need to make sure that the steps you are going to take to change your life for the better are in place.
Nobody will come to you and say: “I think you’d make an excellent blogger” or “you should be doing Tik Tok videos!” – but if you tell yourself I have the confidence that while I’m learning these new things, I’ll get better and better at them and yes, one day, I’ll have all these members listening to me on a regular basis, I truly believe that you will make it happen.
I’ll leave you today with this quote I love from Ed Mylett: “You are the most capable and qualified to help the person you used to be”.

To your success…to our success!
I love this post. Confidence in yourself is the secret to success! Mindset and how you feel about your abilities and knowing you can take on anything is the foundation for success. I really like how you talk about applying confidence and how it’s vital to keep going forward. Your voice is great! You do make it look easy 😉 I am sorry about the loss of your friend, and glad you hung in there! Look forward to your next blog post.
Hi Alison,
Thank you for your kind words and comment. I think the thoughts of what my friend would want me to do was also a good part of me not stopping.
Don’t forget, if you decide to use the voice-over as I do, it will get easier with time.
To your success!
Nice and inspired post about confidence. Thanks Marc. This is raising my confidence a level. Because yesterday it dropped a bit when I said to someone near me I intended to do TikTok videos. It was a categoric NO way! Supposingly I would look ridiculous. 😂 Not of my generation. People my age don’t do this, etc. I’m not old, just turned 55. You see, for many people doing videos is a matter of generation… I think I just got an idea for my next blog post🤔😊Have a good day!
Martin
Hi Martin,
I think you & I are cut from pretty much the same cloth!
When it came to videos, I was like you, pretty much perplexed with the “what will they say?” and then my wife turned around and stated: “if they start paying the bills, what they say can matter, until then, what they say or think doesn’t!”
Looking forward to streaming your videos my friend! All the best!
Hi Marc,
I’m really impressed with the voice recording you have in your blog post. That’s really awesome! You are totally right about having the confidence to move forward in your business. If you don’t have that with everything you do, then it would be hard to succeed in your business or move forward. I really enjoyed your blog post and your whole layout. Great job! Thank you for the great insight on confidence..
Meredith Moore
Hi Meredith,
Thank you for your comment; I’m starting to blush here!
I definitely would say that many factors will affect your outcome but as you reiterate, confidence should definitely be at the top of those factors!
Looking forward to continuing this journey together!
Very practical, Marc! Thanks so much for bringing your experience to the conversation!
Thanks for dropping in and providing your feedback Michael!
All the best!
Hey Marc,
This idea of doing a Vlog and Blog combined is pretty clever. Some people will definitely scan through your post, especially if they aren’t keen on reading… The Audio however eliminates that and also gives them a better sense of recognition with you personally! 👏
Thanks for your comment Ray and yes, I always figured that providing a alternative of my blog – and considering that I was already doing voice-over work myself – was maybe something I could offer.
So far, I’ve had only great comments like yours, thanks!
All the best!
Having confidence in yourself is important. I liked the idea of having some audio at the beginning. Doesn’t matter what your voice sounds like, but creates a feeling of engagement.
None of us should feel like imposters if we have the confidence to move ahead.
Lots of great ideas for all of us to move ahead.
Thanks for your comments Scott!
Absolutely, going forward takes a lot of steps but taking that first one is so important! I also believe that everyone needs to find their path – audio or video or written – and they will find kindred spirits.
All the best!
Great podcast and the written text, gives choices for learning which is awesome as people learn differently. Love the quote.
Hi Eleanor,
Thanks for stopping by and for your comment.
All the best!
Hi Marc,
Another great post. I really enjoy just sitting back and listening to our blog. Confidence its so hard to keep pushing on my end. But I’m plugging away. I also started a TikTok and I’m going to be 60. Not many views, but I know I will get better because I have that confidence I’m trying to keep in front of me. 🙂
Sorry for your tough start to the new year.
Sandy
Hi Sandy!
Great to read you’re going forward – and guess what? I wanted to start a Tik Tok too but see, you’re even ahead of me!
You’re doing great and can’t wait to see the success it brings. Many thanks as well for your kind thoughts.
All the best!
Hey Mark, thanks for this, very encouraging. Confidence is one of those hidden business attributes that make such a difference in someone’s success. It also something that grows as you succeed, so the more you do something you are not confident about, the more confident you become.
Hi Tony,
That is such a great point to add to this! Confidence does grow with success!
Appreciate you taking the time to comment. All the best!
Hi Marc, I have always procrastinated when it comes to videos. So I like what you mentioned about 5000 people just like you, and how you can rise up and become their mentor. I never thought about it that way. It is a very inspiring way to look at things.
Hi Alan,
Thanks for dropping by and providing your comments; mindset can be easily changed my friend, how we look at things – differently – can make a big difference!
All the best!
Hi Marc!
This post is so inspirational! I listened on a day when confidence was not at an all-time high. Your words reached out to give me hope. Having the courage to take the next step is so important in growing our confidence. I am 59. When mentioning to those around me possibly doing TT or YouTube, the reactions were, “Really? Seriously?”
I like your wife’s input that you gave in one of your responses. So true!
How do you create and attach the voice recordings? I enjoy listening to your blog posts!
All the best!
Milissa Neirotti
Hi Milissa,
Thank you for your comment; there’s only one thing that I’d say to you for those questioning your business steps: PROVE THEM WRONG!! LOL, there’s nothing more gratifying that showing that you’ve succeeded and more importantly, proven detractors how wrong they were.
Could you imagine the questions that will be raised when they ask “so how’s that YouTube video thingy you said you’d be doing?” with a: “Oh, that thing? Yeah, I’m making 2-3,000 dollars a month… on that platform…”
I’ll reach out to you regarding your question for the voice recordings.
All the best!
I really loved the voice recording. It was a way to listen to your blog while folding washing. You have the voice for it- very soothing!
I don’t have the confidence for video yet, but it’s probably because I’m my worst enemy, I’m fearful of comments but that’s silly really. Fearing something that hasn’t even happened yet is crazy.
Your words gave me some confidence to give it a go this week. Thank you
Hi Sarah,
Thank you for dropping by and your kind words.
Definitely need to work on that mindset! LOL! Turn that around; show them HOW you got it done and more importantly, HOW you grew your business by doing so!
You Can Do This!
The voice over is perfect! Yes confidence often is an attribute that takes time to build. Our mentor Dean Holland has a confidence he says has taken years to develop. That would be true for most of us.It occurs to me that by making confidence a priority, and rehearsing it and making it real will hasten its inevitable outcome.
Hi Kate,
Thanks for your kind words. As you mentioned, making it part of a daily ritual will make sure that it becomes part of a winning outcome!
All the best!
Hi, Marc! I love your post. I like when you said you lean in on “The confidence that working my blog and working my Affiliate Marketing via Internet Profits with Dean was something that I knew could change my life for the better.” I also have that confidence. I like the idea of leaning in on the idea that this will really help me and take some of the focus off the doubts I have in myself. I like the idea of taking a knee while I keep going forward and learn the process.
I am very sorry for your loss. I wish you healing. See you again next week!
Hi Nakina,
Thank you for your kind words. Change isn’t easy; change sometimes only comes after a period of time. If we’re willing to work on ourselves, the outcome can only be the best of ourself.
Wishing you all the best & yes, until next week!
Marc, I’m sorry about your friend, life tests us in many ways. I believe we should use these moments as motivation to change and improve our own lives before we leave the Earth. Confidence is probably the only thing preventing us changing or adjusting our mindset and it’s only us that can change it. You have a great team around you and a great path to follow. Wishing you all the best. Atif
Hi Atif,
Thank you for your kind words. You are so right; having the confidence to change your life for the better is so important and can be as easy – or hard – as you make it.
Wishing you all the best and yes, I am surrounded by a great group of fantastic people!
