Wow! I think I can’t describe the past week in a better way!
One big thing before I start this weeks blog, I wanted to remind everyone that has a blog and is writing directly into their WordPress Posts that they NEED TO SAVE their work every couple of minutes! I just spent a good portion of time writing up what I wanted to talk about … no notes, it was just flowing — and then, I had to walk away from my computer. I came back and WordPress had logged me out!
So, maybe the best thing is to write your blog on a Word document (auto-save being turned on) and then copy and paste your blog entry into your WordPress post… Something I had done in the past but found it too cumbersome to use. Anyways, just wanted to share this with you… (In all sincerity, it’s the second time this happens to me).
That being said, here we go:
If you read my post of last week, you were aware that I was starting a 30 day “grow my business” challenge this week. So, one week in, the only word that comes to mind is: WOW!
I think the first big thing that I need to convey is how my mindset has changed. Like I mentioned last week, the difference of me thinking that I could do this instead of actually doing it was one of the biggest hold-backs that I think I was dealing with. Well, I can tell you that after this week, that has changed – Drastically!
Being able to give direction to what I what to attain both personally and financially is definitely a game changer!
If you’re reading this (or listening to me), one of the best steps you can take is to visualize what you want to attain and work backwards from there: what will it take for me to attain that objective or goal? Funny thing, it’s a bit of an Army thing for me, what’s the objective and what are the tasks needed to attain that objective. Ironic how everything comes back to things I’ve done in the past.
Being Overwhelmed
Just to be clear on something: Yes, you’re going to be overwhelmed! I sure was! I wanted to do a whole bunch of things – not necessarily those that would bring me closer to my goal – and then I sat down and wrote down my priorities (remember your Agenda). That not only helped me to focus on what I had to do but also calmed me down to the fact that I didn’t have to do all in one day:
- My weekly blog: what do I want to talk about this week? Due Friday 6pm.
- Record the audio portion of my blog.
- Draft the content for my daily Tik Tok videos.
- Try to see if I can’t draft next week as well.
- Record my daily Tik Tok videos.
- See if I can’t do the remaining 3 for the week.
- Subscribe to My Lead Gen Secrets (MLGS).
Ok, so looking at all of this, I figured that anything over 3 or 4 items is a waste of time. You either won’t get them done or you’ll be side-tracked and either forget about it or feel totally disappointed if you don’t get it done.
On that same note, I have a whiteboard in front of my computer where I list these items. You can’t go wrong with that visual reminder and it sure feels good to scratch them off as being done!
Update Time
You’re probably wondering, was he able to get everything done? Read on to find the status on the above:
1. Weekly Blog
I was able to get my blog done by Thursday evening. Now generally, I usually take my Sundays to draft up what I want to talk about and, if the words are flowing, pretty much will have it done by supper time. That gives me the whole week to review it, update it if and where necessary.
I was also able to record the audio portion of my blog. a few of my supporters in the Affiliate System Community (Skool) told me that they appreciated the audio portion; it gives them the opportunity to listen to the audio while getting to work or on the bus. Let me know in the comments what you think?
2. Draft Content For Daily Tik Tok Videos
I was able to not only draft the content I wanted to talk about for this week — but get this, I was also able to finish drafting for week 2, week 3 and hold on to your hats: week 4!
How did I do that you might ask? Well, happy you did! I used Chat GPT. Yes, AI is part of our daily work habits. There’s no workaround about that and, honestly, I don’t think that I would have been able to draft all that content and have it ready all in one evening.
The great part about using this AI driven helper its that it gave me ideas on what I’d like to talk about; it helped me draft the content as well as the rhythm. If I didn’t like the way it sounded – or if it didn’t sound like me or how I would talk – I just changed it.
3. Record my Daily Tik Tok Videos
Now this part was a little more of an issue. As you can understand, I have no problems when it comes to audio recordings. I think that my 20 plus years doing voice-over work has pretty much got that down pat.
The video aspect though is another thing! I’ve yet to master how to properly record my videos using my phone. The great part though is that I’m using CyberLinks Director Suite 365 and the bunch of applications I can use with it is really fantastic! From Audio Director for my audio recordings to Power Director for the videos, I also have access to photos, screen recorders, effects packs as well as a slew of tutorials make it an all-in-one studio for content creators like me and makes my yearly subscription so much worth it.
4. Subscribed to My Lead Gen Secrets (MLGS)
Sophie has been talking about this supplemental income stream, (you know… don’t put all your eggs in the same basket), and I took the leap and subscribed to My Lead Gen Secrets (MLGS).
Her videos describing how to work this stream and the income you can make over time, are quite well structured. From what she was showing in her videos, income is generated, like everything else in MMO, over time. No flashy “get rich” scheme but a down-to-earth program that works if you put in the time and effort.
They also provide an Affiliate Program, which is another great way to supplement your income over time. You offer it’s services to your email list as you’d offer any other Affiliate program.
So as you can see, it was a very productive week. I believe that I’m on the right path to getting a proper daily structure so that I do have some downtime for myself and not feel like the busy fool I used to be.
Like what you’re reading or have questions? Don’t be shy, write it up in the comments section for me to reply and more importantly, don’t forget to subscribe to my blog for continuous insights and tips.
Together, let’s leverage the proven methods from Dean Holland’s Affiliate System to create a sustainable income stream.
To your success…to our success!
Marc, this gave me such a good reminder of what’s possible when we stop spinning our wheels and start focusing on the right things. That shift from thinking about the goal to actually stepping into it—huge. I also really appreciated your breakdown of the process (especially the whiteboard list—100% agree, crossing things off is underrated therapy!).
Thanks for sharing the real ups and downs of your week. It’s motivating to see what can happen with a solid plan, a little tech help, and a whole lot of consistency. Keep going—you’re clearly onto something good.
Hi Alison,
Thank you for your comment and having a plan definitely helped this week. That whiteboard was pretty awesome to strike-off on as well!
Oof, I felt that WordPress logout pain — been there, done that, cried into my coffee! 😩 Totally agree, writing in a doc first is way less risky (even if it feels like a faff). That said, WOW — what a first week of your challenge! Love how you’ve shifted from “I think I can” to “I am doing this!” The whiteboard trick is genius too — there’s just something so satisfying about crossing stuff off!
Also, massive high five for batching 4 weeks of TikTok content! And YES to ChatGPT being the best brainstorming buddy ever — totally hear you on needing to tweak the voice to sound more “you.”
Thanks for sharing the ups and downs so openly — it’s super motivating. You’re smashing it, and I’ll definitely be following along for the next update!
Hi Sarah,
Batching the content was easier than I thought. The great part about it is that at first, I thought that I’d wait for Sophie to provide us with a “cheat” sheet but then I kind of looked at what ChatGPT could help me and voilà! Done!
Appreciate your comment and support as always!
Wow Marc, what an incredible week you’ve had! Your progress is seriously motivating, and I’m so impressed by how you’re tackling your goals with such focus and energy! That WordPress tip about saving work is a lifesaver, thanks for the reminder! Using AI to plan TikTok content and crushing your task list with that whiteboard is pure genius. I have one, but I never use it. I need to get better with that, it would help a lot. You’re killing it, Keep shining, and thanks for inspiring us all!
Meredith
Appreciate your comment Meredith! Keep up the great work as well; your blog is truly inspiring and full of great information that we can use day-to-day!
Hi Marc- I did make the mistake one time of creating my blog posts on WordPress and then getting logged out before saving. It was so frustrating, and I now do what you do and create everything on Word with auto safe and post it later to my blog post. Yes, it is an extra step but one that gives me peace of mind. Now to your very value-added post… this was excellent! Your strategy in the 4 steps that you do is inspiring because you are taking things a chunk at a time and strike instead of trying to do everything all at one time. I love your plan, and I hope you don’t mind if I copy parts of it. Have a wonderful week!
Hi Ernie, I think I’ll be going back to that Word with auto-save! I just did it again… LOL!
Appreciate the comment and by all means, go ahead and take whatever works – we’re all here to support each other, that’s the beauty of it all! Have a great week as well.
Hi Marc-I am excited about using the program you suggested, “CyberLinks Director Suite 365 ” -there is a learning curve but glad you pointed out a few ideas as to how I can use it, especially the audio portion. I want to use it in my new membership!! I am excited to try it out!!
Hi Kate, glad to be of service on that front! You won’t regret it – as you mention, there is a learning curve but once you’ve got the hang of it, it will definitely make your recordings a lot easier. Plus you get a few other great programs in the Director Suite 365 that make it worthwhile to get onboard with.
Hi Marc! Thanks for letting us discover MLGS. I didn’t know about this program and this looks really interesting indeed. Good work and congratulations Marc for taking action and doing the things that need to be done to make progress with your business.
Martin
Hi Martin, thank you for your comment and yes, pretty darn happy withh myself for the last 2 weeks. I’ve really taken action and really working hard to keep going! All the best!
